Köttfärsen fräser i pannan. Spagettin kokar. De hårda stråna faller nedåt i kastrullen och resignerar under det heta vattnet. Små barnahänder hjälper till. Kniven tas fram, försiktigt försiktigt. Gurkan hämtas varsamt från kylskåpet.
Den är iskall.
Plasten tas av men det är trögt. Tålamodet tar nästan slut, men så säger det plopp och den hala grönsaken far ner i diskhon. Den plockas försiktigt upp igen.
Kranen sätts på.
Ljuset över diskhon tänds.
Kallt vatten på en kall gurka.
Koncentration.
"Skärbräda tack."
Händerna gör sig redo.
Kniven. Den slöa kniven. Segar sig igenom skalet. Händerna blir blöta. Första skivan bli tjock. Den faller ner på skärbrädan. Den får godkänt och hamnar i salladsskålen. Andra skivan blir lite tunnare, men hamnar i munnen. Kras, kras, låter det när den tuggas sönder.
